ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय

This bhajan is a powerful mantra chant dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The central mantra is "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya," which means "I bow to Lord Vasudeva (Krishna/Vishnu, the one who dwells in all beings)." It is known as the mantra of liberation (moksha). The bhajan also incorporates other praises of Vishnu. The "Dhanvantaraye..." verse is a salutation to Lord Dhanvantari (an avatar of Vishnu, the god of Ayurveda), who holds the pot of nectar (Amrita Kalasha), destroys all diseases (Sarvamaya Vinashaya), and is the Lord of the three worlds. The "Narayanaya Vidmahe..." is the Vishnu Gayatri Mantra: "We meditate on Narayana, we contemplate on Vasudeva, may that Vishnu inspire us." It concludes with the famous "Shantakaram" stuti, describing Vishnu's form: "He who has a peaceful form (Shantakaram), who lies upon the divine serpent (Bhujagashayanam), from whose navel springs the lotus (Padmanabham), and who is the Lord of gods (Suresham)." "He who is the foundation of the universe (Vishvadharam), vast as the sky (Gaganasadrisham), dark as a cloud (Meghavarnam), and has an auspicious form (Shubhangam)." "He who is the beloved of Lakshmi (Lakshmikantam), whose eyes are like lotuses (Kamalanayanam), and who is attainable only through meditation by yogis." "I bow (Vande) to that Vishnu, the remover of worldly fears (Bhavabhayaharam) and the one true Lord of all worlds (Sarvalokaikanatham)."
